    History

    Argyle, Texas came into existence when the Texas & Pacific Railway Company added a railway stop at the base of Hickory Hill Road. Incorporated in 1963, Argyle has become a community known for its beautiful rural character with a small-town lifestyle. The Town of Argyle truly offers the best of both worlds with the benefits of a quiet, small community atmosphere, along with the convenience of its close proximity of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Argyle’s excellent location within the Golden Triangle region of Denton to the North, Fort Worth to the West and Dallas to the East, provides a great place to reside, raise a family as well as having a convenient commute to regional job centers.

    Demographics

    As of the census of 2010, there were 3,282 people, 1,083 households, and 925 families residing in the town. The population density was 287.9 people per square mile (111.3/km2). There were 1,145 housing units, at an average density of 100.4 per square mile (38.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.9% White, 0.3% African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 0.0% Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, 1.4% some other race, and 1.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.6% of the population.

    There were 1.083 households, out of which 45.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.1% were headed by married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.6% were non-families. 12.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.9% were someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.03, and the average family size was 3.30.

    In the town, the population was spread out, with 30.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 19.6% from 25 to 44, 34.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41.9 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.9 males.[5]

    At the 2000 census the median income for a household in the town was $91,161, and the median income for a family was $94,309. Males had a median income of $58,500 versus $36,250 for females. The per capita income for the town was $39,791. About 2.8% of families and 3.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.4% of those under age 18 and 6.5% of those age 65 or over.
