Park your laptop at the area’s best caffeination destinations. These coffee shops for perfect lattes, super-potent iced coffee, and offer a cool atmosphere and exciting menu items.
For this update, we’ve included Wild Detectives and Magnolias Sous Le Pont in Dallas, and couldn’t help but show some love to Funk Town by adding Casa Azul.

Slow and Steady Coffee
This coffee shop in a converted home in Oak Cliff is a scene. The backyard is full of folks and often has breakfast sandwiches going on the grill on weekends. The interior has multiple rooms to tuck into with fashionable decor. And the coffee is top notch.
Hola Cafe Dallas
This extra small Oak Cliff coffee shop, owned by wife and husband duo Jeniffer Avilá and Daniel Hinojosa, is an intimate experience. So intimate that there are only a couple of seats, with a few more added outside when the weather permits. With beans from Avilá’s native Honduras in the grinder, coffee lovers can expect a rich cup. Now in Oak Cliff as well.
Opening Bell Coffee
If live music and a strong cup of coffee is the combination that does it for you, this is the spot. This underground (literally, it’s in a basement) coffee shop has a ‘90s college hangout vibe that’s eclectic and maximalist. And all sorts of local singer/songwriters perform here.
Full City Rooster
When is a coffee shop not just a coffee shop? When it’s a place like Full City, which serves an array of roasts from a lot of countries and supports local artists by featuring their work on it’s walls, giving away their books, and selling their skate decks/photography/etc, and hosting their events. It’s a community in this joint, brought together by an excellent cup of joe.
Triumphs Espresso & Whiskey
Work the day away or watch traffic go by on the extensive patio of this coffee shop. The smaller interior offers warm woods and white walls that cram a lot of personality in. The coffee offerings are minimal, with a short selection of great cups. Whiskey and jazz come out in the evenings.
Wayward Coffee Co.
The vibes are so good inside this coffee spot in the Design District — it’s Oak Cliff location is pretty chill too. There is lots of greenery around and plenty of tables and seating of different sizes and styles. The coffee is solid and there are always seasonal offerings.
Ascension Coffee
Now boasting multiple outposts across the Metroplex, Ascension is a popular haunt for both coffee and wine. Order something from their extensive menu of lattes — golden milk and shroom are especially notable offerings.
The Meteor Dallas
At this all-day cafe and bike shop, one can get a great cup of coffee with all the hearts out of milk in it. It’s also got breakfast tacos, burgers, and serves natural wine. So yeah, you can go from a lavender latte to a brisket breakfast taco with a mimosa to a prickly pear lemonade with a chicken sandwich to a glass of orange wine and — oop there’s half a day gone.
JuJu’s Coffee
Nick and Julia Rocha took JuJu’s from pop-ups in an Airstream to its first storefront in Lakewood. And they turned it into a classic, minimalist coffee shop that nails the East Dallas vibe. Try a cup brewed with beans from Eiland Coffee Roasters out of Richardson and Coffee del Rey from Plano.

Cafe Duro
Enjoy a quiet espresso, European-style — sitting down and chatting with a friend. This marble-laden spot on Greenville is a beautiful place to perk up your morning. And if you’d like to sit, eat, or stay awhile, customers have access to the porch of Sister next door.
LDU Coffee
There’s a reason coffee from this shop is the driver in some of the best espresso martinis at top restaurants all around Dallas — it’s incredible, and done Australian-style. What makes the LDU shops so cool, however, is the no wi-fi policy. Come in, hang out, and really enjoy that cuppa or the friend you’re meeting in the cozy, wooden-styled interiors. They’re happy to have you stay, but laptop warriors can stay away.
Cultivar Coffee Roasting Co.
An OG of the Dallas coffee scene, Cultivar has a rabid following. The menu is simple but solid every single time. They have all the classics, which can be made iced for free. Pair it with a sandwich from Goodfriend Package Store, or sit outside on the expanded porch to sip and watch the neighborhood roll by.
Sugar & Sage Bakery
This Park Cities bakery, owned by mother/daughter duo Alison and Ashley Sage Weinstein, is also a coffee shop — which makes it perfect for those days one needs a little something extra with their cuppa. It’s got a little wonderland of an outdoor area to sip in. And it roasts with beans from Dallas’s own Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters.
La Casita Coffee in Half Price Books
One of the greatest destinations for book lovers in Dallas now sports a spiffy coffee shop. La Casita, which is beloved for its pastries has opened a coffee shop and pastry counter inside this massive bookstore. The menu of coffee and non-coffee drinks is long and includes seasonal coffees.
The Wild Detectives
Owned by two Spanish civil engineers, Wild Detectives is for sure a coffee shop where you can grab your espressos, cappuccinos, and teas, along with cocktails, beer, and wine, but it’s also a bookshop with a selection of new contemporary and classic fiction and non-fiction, as well as a shelf dedicated to works in the Spanish language. It’s also a certified community hub with a full calendar of programming like Shakespeare in its backyard, bingo, DJs, and bands. Be forewarned, this really becomes about the hang after 5 p.m. and on the weekends when the shop disconnects the wifi.
Magnolias Sous Le Pont
You can’t miss the shop’s beautifully painted teal exterior on Harwood across the street from Pike Park. Magnolias Sous Le Pont is just as gorgeous on the outside as it is inside and features ample space and plugs for getting work done. It features a strong menu of specialty coffee beverages, pastries, and light bites. Perfect for the remote worker needing a break away from home Zoom calls.
Casa Azul
Located near the heart of the Stockyards, Casa Azul is a vibrant shop with heavy adoration of Mexican culture. Expect coffee drinks like a churro latte or matcha-colada with agave syrup. There are a few food options too like tacos, avocado toast, and fluffy conchas.
